- Here you can see all the active and inactive themes of your website. Open the active themes folder.
- Find the functions.php file and open it to edit.
Now, all you have to do is add the following code to the theme’s functions.php file or a site-specific plugin.
@ini_set( ‘upload_max_size’ , ’64M’ );
@ini_set( ‘post_max_size’, ’64M’);
@ini_set( ‘max_execution_time’, ‘300’ );
This way you will be able to increase the values in upload_max_size and post_max_size. And these values will become more than the size of the file that you are trying to upload. You will also have to increase the max_execution_time. This value needs to be equal to the time that you think the file will take for uploading. If you are not sure about the required values then you can give a shot at just doubling them.
Method 2 – Increase Upload File Size Limit via .htacces File
In this method, you will have to make some changes to the .htaccess file. For this you have to follow the steps that are mentioned below.
- After logging in to the cPanel, open the public_html directory.
- Find the .htaccess file and open it to edit.
All you have to do is add the following code at the bottom of the file:
php_value upload_max_filesize 64M
php_value post_max_size 64M
php_value max_execution_time 300
php_value max_input_time 300
It is as easy as shown.
Method 3 – Manually Upload File via FTP
The last method that you can use is, do it manually. If the 413 request entity too large error occurs only when you try to upload one particular file, then you should also try uploading that file manually. You can do this using FTP. For this, you will have to follow the steps that are mentioned below.
- Download the zip folder of the plugin and theme.
- Now you have to extract the zip file. This will create a new folder with the same name.
- After this, you can manually upload this folder to the website via FTP.
By using any of these methods, you will be able to get rid of the error 413 Request Entity Too Large.
